Archetypes of Dysregulation (self-resourcing) by Damien Bohler
One of the hallmarks of insecure attachment is difficulty in regulating emotional state, often thought of as triggers or dysregulation. When our attachment needs are threatened, or when we are confronted with feeling the deep inner shame or anxiety that often lies at the core of attachment wounding, we will tend towards reacting in distinct and habitual ways.
This workshop is an embodied exploration of these dysregulation patterns. Playfully entitled ‘archetypes’ we will explore 8 different reactive patterns through our body.
The archetypes we will cover are: the exploder, the stonewall, the mentalist, the freezer, the fawner, the dissociator, the poker and the shut-down.
Most of us will have more than one predominant pattern that we resort to in different contexts and circumstances.
Part of the journey of becoming more secure is one of increasing awareness. By cultivating awareness of our own patterning, being able to see it in our mind and also feel it in our bodies, we then manage to create the space for more choice in our behaviour, our responses and our relationships.’
